Government ensuring ‘robust integrity measures’ in place to protect data
Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says the government is making sure telco companies are working cooperatively with banks to ensure “robust integrity measures” are in place to protect people’s data.
He said the government is also reviewing Australia’s privacy laws about the data telco companies can hold.
“And the level of data they need to satisfy security and identity checks and the like, and whether or not they need to keep that ongoing,” he told Sky News Australia.
