A 71-year-old man has been found dead in the backyard of his Rochester property this morning as floodwaters engulf Victoria’s north.
It is the first death recorded in Victoria during this flood crisis.
“We of course send our deepest sympathies to his family and friends,” Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said.
“I just make the point, we’ll stand with that family and all families affected by this, but it just brings home for all of us that this is serious, this is potentially very, very dangerous.”
