Mikaela Shiffrin signs off season in style with 88th World Cup victory in giant slalom at Soldeu

Mikaela Shiffrin signed off a historic season in style with an 88th World Cup win in the giant slalom at Soldeu, Andorra.

The American great held a 0.62s lead after the first run – a bigger gap than separated second from eighth – and she needed almost all of that on the second to squeak victory by 0.06s ahead of Norway’s Thea Louise Stjernesund.

Shiffrin surpassed Ingemar Stenmark at the top of the all-time World Cup standings with her 87th win earlier in March.
